Bachelor of Divinity
The Bachelor of Divinity (B.Div.) is a degree offered at the undergraduate level that concentrates on scripture, Christian beliefs, Baptist beliefs, major Christian denominations, and the growth of one's own spirit. This is a traditional course with practical skills - clear thinking about faith, thoughtfully leading communities - which mean graduates are well equipped for congregations, mission work, religion-related nonprofits. Attention is given as much as to the character as to the coursework, and during the course of the program the learner's mind and spirit are formed. This walk is for people who want to walk with integrity, “faith in daily striving.” Lessons are not just theoretical, but are developed through real life use.
Programme Overview
With a solid foundation in Christ-centered, hands-on ministry and deep learning, Roosevelt International University of Baptist provides a B.Div. curriculum rooted in academic challenge and spiritual growth. Learners stretch their understanding through the engagement with Scripture, Theology, Church History, Evangelism, Discipleship, Pastoral Ministry, Worship Leadership and Christian Ethics. Growth is not just a mental growth, but also a growth in personal relationship to Christ. Faith in response to the Gospel deepens as they grow in knowledge. All subjects in the curriculum contribute to being ready for the real world. Learning is no longer about information, but it is towards purpose. Learning takes place at several levels: historical, ethical, biblical and experiential. The depth of spiritual experience increases subtly in the midst of lectures, reflection and engagement in community life.
Program alumni are ready to go to work in churches, mission groups, schools that educate Christian missions, and in local outreach. The degree is designed to provide foundation for advanced studies in theology or for the enhancement of practice in the ministry, as the diploma is built upon. The diploma is built upon by the degree, which provides foundations useful for advanced studies in theology and for the enhancement of practice in ministry.
